E-Waste Collection Days for DC Condos, Co-ops & Senior Communities

For many Northwest DC residents, the old television in the closet and the tangle of dead cables in the junk drawer share the same problem: nobody knows quite how to get rid of them. A local family business is changing that, one pickup at a time.

Student Union, a family-run junk removal service based in the neighborhood, has been quietly building a following with its flat-fee porch pickups and resident e-waste collection days for condominium and apartment communities across the Northwest quadrant.

"No loads left behind," is how they put it — and neighbors who have used the service say the crew's friendliness is matched by where the items end up: recycled or donated whenever possible, never simply dumped.

Buildings along Connecticut Avenue have begun scheduling collection mornings, with residents describing the process as refreshingly simple, and board members calling the events a welcome new amenity for their communities.
